Why is Trump so obsessed with naming things after an old Italian guy?

How is it that the president even has the power to rename bodies of water? Why didn’t everyone just point and laugh when he first tried it with the Gulf of Mexico?

We did, and we still do. As an engineer where i can, I still stamp plans with the proper name called out, Gulf of Mexico, no one ever counters it. Only idiots champion the executive order.
