I call them chatbots or fancy autocomplete. LLM maybe for the better coding agents, but that’s still being generous. Slopbots for the music, website, and image generators.
I refer to them as G.P.
This is a somewhat inside joke for those who were in Ontario and watched Tales of the Riverbank on TVO (aka Hammy Hamster) in the 1960’s and 70’s. Hammy’s friend G.P. was a guinea pig. They’d get up to all sorts of adventures. It wasn’t a cartoon, but filming of real animals in sets with models and with voice dubbing, and a narrator. They obviously put food down where they wanted the animals to go, and I’m pretty sure they glued the paws to steering wheels and the like sometimes. There was also Martha Mouse, who was clearly a white rat. One time the animals … oh, but that’s another story. (That’s how the episodes ended and it was fucking annoying).
Many AI bros get mad when you say LLM. I wish it was an easier term to say, honestly. It reminds me of the days when everyone would stumble over saying “www”.
I refer to them as either “the LLM” or “the robot” at work and boy howdy the AI bros do not like it

Why wouldn’t they? That’s what every AI bro calls them

Never heard this before. AI bros are the first to say “clankers” in my experience. You might just know some weirdos
Clankers is usually done as semi-derisive thing, in my experience. 🤷
My point exactly. I think you may just work with some uptight people
