My understanding is that it’s a willful scam to sell .si domains. Of course that doesn’t mean he came up with it or that he isn’t a moron who doesn’t understand.
If lots of people, including powerful people, change what they call something because he told them to, that’s just feeding his ego. That’s all he’s in for at this point. At least this is a grift to also make money off people, I didn’t see any way to profit from changing Lake Ontario’s name, except maybe as a distraction in the media, and again, his ego.

He doesn’t have to be smart to own significant blocks of them. Somebody just has to whisper to him that there’s a lot of money to be made.

This makes the most sense. No doubt one of his kids came up with the grift, probably Baron.
