Title skips the part that says “Let them take out (the cities)”
Fucking idiot.
“President Donald Trump suggested that Iran could “take out” Los Angeles and San Diego if it were allowed to develop a nuclear weapon, drawing condemnation from California leaders, including Gov. Gavin Newsom, who called the remarks “deranged and dangerous.”

They’d take out DC first, and maybe Mar-a-lago for funzies.
Keep in mind the source of this brilliant idea comes from trump - Iran’s leadership are by and large evil bastards, but they’re not anything like as stupid as that orange clown; there’s no world where Iran would attack the US mainland, because they’re relying on the vast lack of US political will to continue to keep trump’s wild despotic aspirations in check. Obliterating LA would similarly obliterate the hesitation to endanger US assets, and would end very badly for everyone involved.
True, if they get a nuclear weapon (which they 100% should do) they’ll probably aim it at Abu Dhabi and Riyadh and let the implications do their work.
I find the idea that nuclear proliferation to theocratic despots could in any way be a positive development a little… difficult to believe. It’s bad enough with the nuclear states we have now - we don’t need another Israel in the region. Although, a nuclear Muslim state would give us all three major branches of the abrahamic religions. Terrifying sure, but think of what a nice symmetry it would give to geopolitics…
It’d definitely restrain Israel and crew, and the Iranian regime isn’t dumb enough to actually use a nuke.
That’s basically reasoning from vibes so there’s really nothing for me to say here without a thought process I can respond to, but also for example the Soviets getting nukes was definitely an improvement over only America having them. Deterrence works.
“A well armed (global) populace has nothing to fear” is certainly an outlook one can have - though I think it’s rather myopic, I’m not really interested in getting into a debate about the hypothetical benefits to giving nukes to a brutally repressive theocracy right now. I hope you have a very nice day.
