Alito, 76, is one of six conservative justices on the nine-person Supreme Court
The Supreme Court’s 6-3 conservative lean wouldn’t change if Alito retired and Trump nominated a new justice. But Alito’s retirement would allow Trump to appoint a fourth justice to the court. Alito was nominated by then-President George W. Bush in the fall of 2005 and took his seat on the bench in January 2006.
Trump has lashed out at the Supreme Court for several rulings against him on controversial issues like his sweeping tariff policy and his challenge to birthright citizenship. Alito sided with Trump on those two issues.
The timing of a Supreme Court justice’s retirement is crucial because the party in power can change the court’s political leaning for decades.

Its the 1% vs the working class, not generation vs generation.
You missed the point by thi________________________s much.
The ONLY reason billionaires have the power they have is because of conservatives (including neo-liberals). Conservatives have always protected the wealthy. They worship the rich.
If not for conservatives, the normal people would be able to charge billionaires with crimes. If not for conservatives, billionaires would be required to pay fair taxes. As long as conservatives continue to breathe our air, billionaires will remain untouchable.
We cannot defeat the boss until his foot-soldiers are dead.
Question if you asked a multi-millionaire boomer to give up there social security to someone who needs it. Say the family makes $400k a year which includes $40,000 in social security. Do you think they would willingly give that up? Do you think thats an easy political goal?
“hey social security is intended for people who depend on it financially and not a buffer to your large portfolio”
We could solve social security by capping the OUTFLOWs at $250k. Go poll some boomers on that lmao let me know if you still think they are working class.
Boomers are not working class since most of them are actually taking money from the working class right now, and are incentivized to keep electing these god awful politicians. They were working class now they live off investments, and social security, both held up by the actual working people.
Do disabled welfare recipients next. They aren’t working class by that logic.
There is a difference between a generation that has been the majority voting block for decades is targeted and offered concessions by the ruling class to maintain their loyalty; and people with disabilities that we acknowledge as a society we want to take care of.
I do agree that when “generations” are the target of conflict in order to avoid mentioning class that that is unhelpful. But, it’s not “generational reductionisms” to understand why a generation of the working class (a specific race and gender as well) has been offered concessions from the ruling class.
It’s a massive reason for why the “trans panic” or “immigrant panic” worked with boomers. They were taken care of. They don’t understand why their children are having such a hard time. It can’t be the system that gave them everything. It can’t be that they were “given everything” they worked hard.
It must be the socialist and woke shit that is the problem.
It’s ok to understand class conflict and intersectionality in the context of how a generation forms it’s ideas that direct their political support.
When we are talking about “boomers” we are talking about this major disconnection in material conditions they grew up with when compared to the results of neolib and neocon policies long after they “made it”.
No one is talking about “senior care” vs. “care for those with disabilities”.
