He’s not even the first. Tom Kean, a Republican rep from NJ, stayed absent for just under four full months earlier this year without explanation and then blithely explained it as “treatment for depression.” But he’s still running for reelection in November.
Tom Kean’s story is believable. He was in the hospital for most of it and informed the speaker early of his exact condition. House members just aren’t as critical, individually, as well. The only thing I’m mad at is how much better healthcare he received than the vast majority of americans.
And then these same people will shoot down a minimum wage increase, saying “if you want more money work harder.”
