    Not to detract from graphene, but stock Android can let you manage what specific pictures each app has access to. I don’t trust Meta with full access to my gallery, so anytime I have to upload something to Whatsapp, I have to specifically grant permission for that photo to Whatsapp.

      Fun fact, that functionality literally came from GrapheneOS. Google onboarded it from Graphene.

            Whatsapp is so popular that if you’re outside of the US the expectation is not weird

            I had a shit employer, I’m normally self-employed but I took a job one winter, they wanted me to download some app called Deputy to like spy on me 24/7. I never did.
