Republican U.S. Sen. Tommy Tuberville of Alabama and the current GOP nominee for governor of the state targeted trans people in a speech on the Senate floor, spewing transphobia and misinformation. In a tangent, the Republican also seemed to support a conspiracy theory that many flight attendants are furries.
The lawmaker accused trans people of violence and even proposed that they should be put in mental health facilities as he stood beside a poster with a pregnant man emoji with “transgederism is a mental disease” on the top.
Gender dysphoria is a mental illness. The cure is transition. We’ve known this for over a century in modern medicine, and people like him’s only comprehension is to kill and hurt and stand on top of it and make a face like he shit his pants.
Depression is also mental illness, but doesn’t have a clear easy solution.
Homosexuality is not mental illness, neither is it to be transgender. Both of those are as natural as being alive and as harmful as breathing.
Conservatives need to go touch grass.
