Same narrative every election.
Don’t listen , just vote.
I’ve seen this one. The Democrats will turn the shotgun around and blow their face off like Daffy Duck.
The child rapist is trying to get rid of Head Start next. Hopefully that will happen right around vote time.
Fuck these horrid people for allowing a pedo to run our country into the fucking ground.
I think they buried the real lede here:
The same survey also found that, for the first time in nearly a decade of its polling series, voters perceive the Democratic Party as having a better plan for the economy than the Republican Party.
That we’re in a positive environment for the Democrats is a kinda “no-duh” situation. The out-party is usually favored during mid-term elections. There are also some well known economic issues which are working against the GOP (see: gas prices). So, we’d expect the Democrats to have an advantage. But that shift in trust of which party is better for the economy would mark a major sea change in opinion, if it sticks. As dumb as it may be, the American public has a habit of responding that they trust Republicans more on the economy than they trust the Democrats. If that changes, the Republicans would lose one of their major pillars of support.
That said, I’m not sure I’d put all that much stock in polling yet. Americans have a habit of not really paying attention to politics until very late. The common wisdom being that most people aren’t paying attention until after Labor Day. Those of us subscribed to a community named “politics” are likely the exception and not the norm. So, polls and averages showing a D+6 environment are nice, but not all that useful yet. And things are likely to shift quite a bit before the actual midterms. Also, three months is a lot of time for Trump to do more stupid stuff or get stupidly lucky. We could be even more bogged down in the Iran quagmire or a deal could be struck which extricates the US, re-opens the Strait and brings down gas prices.
All that to say that, this is interesting as a quick check on where things seem to be right now, but it’s probably not that predictive of where things will be in three months.
Get ready for a lot of posts about how now is the time to stay home and not vote.
If the Dems lose this election it will mean that they will turn hard Left and then everything will be perfect!
Staying home is a terrible idea.
People get way more upset when people such as myself vote third party, so that is what the non-voters must do.
If that third party’s main selling point is abolishing the two party system, that could actually make sense
Precisely my idea.
Hey! Also, if they win, they will turn hard left and then everything will be perfect!
Oh wait, actually they will still vote for and confirm appointees none of us like, fund Israel’s supremacist bloodlust and occupation of our country, fund ICE and concentration camps, data centers, AND attack progressives!
bOtH sIdEs mentality is the link that connects the left and right tips of the horseshoe.
GOP has actively tried to help both the Greens and the Libertarians.
The GOP knows its people will vote Red no matter what. They are so happy when people vote third party.
Thanks for proving my point.
Don’t get complacent. Get out and vote.
Gee I wonder why. Perhaps it has something to do with the reckless disregard for human rights and rule of law?
I wish. I bet it’s high gas prices.
I’d rather people do the right thing for the wrong reason than not at all.
Most revolutions are that.
Results of a Reuters/Ipsos poll released Monday showed that 42% of registered voters would vote for a Democratic congressional candidate at present, compared to 37% for a Republican.
Considering how gerrymandered the country is, I’m not sure this is a big enough lead.
At least gerrymandering doesn’t matter for Senate races.
Yeah, true. But that matters which senate seats are up for reelection. Hopefully this lead will translate into upsets.
The way polling has been going for the last like 10 years now a +10 dem “win” is actually a +5 rep “win” it’s infuriating
None of this matters now. Idiots gave the keys to the oligarchs and now they have stolen all of our data and placed AI into all aspects of our government.
Even if Elon and Trump didn’t openly admit to hacking the vote tabulating machines, they can cripple and hold our government for ransom anytime they want.
There is no more “going back” or “voting for incremental change”. It can’t happen without a violent revolution. People spent a decade screaming it to the populace but they cheered for the destruction of the country. Literally, they cheered Elon Musk as he took a “chainsaw” to all of the stuff that we voted on, paid taxes for, and the organizations that could have held him responsible for all of his illegal actions and business practices.
I don’t know if those stupid idiots that killed the USA are more stupid than the ones that still don’t realize what has happened.
You gave up. So why the fuck are you back here on the sidelines trying to convince your former comrades they’re “stupid” for fighting back?
No one wants to hear how hopeless you think it is. Fight or gtfo.
You’re right and each conversation I have with folks that still seem to think this country is actually salvageable at this point makes me more and more convinced that it will not happen. We’ve got no unity and have been successfully atomized so thoroughly that the average modus operandi is being antisocial or asocial at best. We survived this long by evolving as communal animals, we’re at our strongest when we connect with, care for, and rely on one another, without those bonds I fear we may be cooked.
I deeply and genuinely hope I’m wrong
It’s just Stranger Danger at play. You can never trust a Stranger.
I disagree with all the above, if for no other reason than the reality that we must. The defeatism isn’t harmless.
To predict defeat then say “I hope I’m proven wrong” telegraphs faithlessness and cowardice.
You’ll see this wound-licking around here a lot: “I think we will lose but welcome my former comrades, who I have no faith in, to prove me wrong.” Returning to the sidelines of the fight they left simply to taunt their former teammates this way, convincing others to give up and join them on the sidelines, is worse than desertion.
And you can bet they’ll show up once the battle is over, whether to claim participation in the victories or to recall their predictions and say “I told you so.”
Anyone still paying attention, who hasn’t yet been broken and swallowed by hopelessness, knows that the revolution is already underway.
No, it is not televised. No, outcomes are not guaranteed. But those who stand beside and fight for each other are never truly defeated.
Any Democrat winning a.Congressional race will not be seated in the next Congress. When the elections go to the Dems, they will be called fraudulent and the GOP will simply not allow them to be sworn in.
If the ballot box doesn’t work anymore, people are going to go for the ammo box. Maybe they can stall until the presidential elections, but shit is going to hit the fan. And those of fantasized about that are going to get a rude wakening.
I don’t buy it. Elon hasn’t started buying votes yet.
