Overnight, D.C. District Court Judge Tim Kelly issued an order requiring the Trump administration to immediately reinstate MS NOW, CNN, and Politico’s White House access. A national strike would probably be more palatable if there were trusted community organizations that could help the most vulnerable who can’t go without pay, even for short periods. It doesn’t just have to be cash they distribute, in-kind goods or services would be useful too.
This is what people mean when they say voting isn’t enough to make meaningful change. Get to know your neighbors and take care of each other. The state is less scary when you have solidarity.
While this is an important topic, my original comment was simply about strike support. I think a huge barrier for people is how daunting direct action can be. If people can support each other through strikes and other acts of solidarity, planning for more impactful disruptions will be more manageable.
