Both the federal and provincial governments where I live had plans to ban the sale of gas powered vehicles by 2035. They kept this policy for a few years but both scrapped it recently.
My province initially made it a law that 100% of cars sold by 2035 should be electric. It’s now 90%.
So, as much as the current German government can say it plans to do this by 2045, there’s more than enough time to have another government that will scrap this policy. And their plan is even more ambitious.
I hope they will continue in the long term with this policy, but the cynical in me is doubting.
I hope they will keep their promise.
