Its really no longer tied to that, it has more to do with refineries in the US shut down for maintenance and the refineries that were hit in Russia, Ukraine and a little middle east capacity that went down. Oil inventories are actually rising, because there isn’t enough refining capacity for it. It’s why diesel is so expensive right now and oil isn’t over $200 a barrel.
I’m worried there will be some fucked up deal to have it suddenly all at least temporarily under control within the weeks ahead, getting Republicans favor again.
We would need to give Iran a very attractive offer for that. They are aware of our internal politics, and want the Republicans to do poorly. They are also very distrustful of us, so any benifit to them would neec to be front loaded. But once they get the front loaded benefit, they have no reason to follow through.
Assuming you get through all of that, Iran can not just flip a switch and fix the global energy market if they wanted to. Infrastructure has been destroyed, supply chains have collapsed, and tankers are slow.
It would take too long for the prices to change. The ideal solution is to force the prices to have a huge discount for the week of November 1st, and then send them back up the week after.
