You can’t give the blanket “Democrats” credit for this. The degree to which the Democratic establishment fought to keep guys like him out if power can’t be understated. However the progressive parts of the democratic party are growing in strength and number by the day. I hope some day the party stands up for half of what he does. This is the only guy who makes me hopeful for the future
I would do some personal digging on Gavin Newsom. He seems to be very much a classic politician, i.e. he’ll say whatever he thinks his base wants to hear. But he is notably very flaky on trans allyship in legislature.

It’s obviously mirroring the “doctors hate this one simple trick” ad line, but did you think the original was supporting doctors?
The line is saying that Democrats/“doctors” know about the little trick and were keeping it from you. That’s not a flattering representation.
“X hates this one trick” is generally a statement where X is seen as the self-serving side and they hate the trick because it makes them redundant.
