Assembly Bill 2164 authored by Assemblymember Rebecca Bauer-Kahan (D-Orinda) would have prohibited California’s governor from recognizing a request for extradition of a person related to their providing a legally protected healthcare activity in the Golden State to transgender individuals, or if they provide reproductive services. It provided certain exemptions, such as an extradition required by federal law.
Hopefully he doesn’t make it past the primaries. Unfortunately if he does and he’s up against a MAGA Republican, there’s only one clear choice.
Go help campaign for progressive candidates before the primaries! Come November 2028, it may be too late.
Please, everyone who thinks the Democratic Party can be saved, to do this. It will convince you faster than anything else I know of that the party isn’t salvageable and that party leadership is just as awful privately as the other guys are publicly.

I even held my nose and voted for Harris, but “stay home and don’t vote” appears to be the only clear choice here. Newsom vs. MAGA is just MAGA vs. MAGA. When Newsom was imitating Trump on twitter, all I could think was “imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.” I don’t think it’s too much to expect the Democrats to have learned something from the 2024 elections; they can ignore progressives, but progressives can ignore them too, and then the whole country suffers.
