What’s keeping people from boycotting the fuck out of this company?
Actor Mark Ruffalo, an outspoken opponent of the merger who was subjected to what critics called a corporate “smear campaign” because of his stance, trained his ire on California’s governor in response to news of the settlement.

It’s why he’s so dangerous, the billionaires are going to push the shit out of him for the 2028 dem primary. Even if he loses the general, they still win. And if he does manage to win, he names the DNC chair and hands it back to neoliberals.
Nothing is more important than making sure a progressive wins the Dem primary. Even if Republicans win the general, the voting members would be likely to pick another unbiased chair. But if a Dem becomes president, they name the chair. That’s why the last one just handed it to Kamala, and she’d have handed Jamie Harrison the chair again.
We can’t waste this opportunity.
Which is why we need to start sowing the seeds for a progressive primary candidate now. We need to be vetting them like any one of them could be the next Fetterman or Platner and we better be getting their names out there before the race kicks off, because if we cannot afford to wait until the race starts.
As if leftists could ever agree on a candidate.
Initially I didn’t know too much about Newsom except some people somewhat passionately disliked the guy. After he shoved the age verification law (a national login system wearing sheep’s clothing) through I started getting an idea why.
Disclaimer! Take everything below with a grain of salt as I haven’t spent time to completely verify it all.
Newsom has also held a series of partially questionable stances on issues that paints a very stark picture.
Newsom came out against the billionaire tax arguing it should be a national issue. Sure but keep in mind we haven’t raised the minimum wage since 2009 ($7.20/hour) and even when Democrats held everything, they didn’t pass a single payer healthcare, raise wages, or protect women’s rights.
The excuse of Paramount threatening to leave is kinda crap. The studio sound stages and the industry built up around them is difficult to just uproot. But that said there are a few mini “holly woods” starting to really mature around the world that are a lot cheaper than LA.
Another more subtle point is that one of the easier take away from Reagan and now Trump is that people vote for candidates who confidently promise to do something. By the time people figure out they’ve been duped, with both of these presidents we somehow ended up entangled with Iran. With Newsom he could do the “right” thing and stop a third of the US media industry being owned by an antidemocratic billionaire but then he would be blamed when the billionaires gang up to punish him by using him as a scapegoat for fuckery they were going to do anyway. Please remember to factor in that a big chunk of the USA voted for Trump, even if it can be proven that he did in fact steal votes in the swing states, he still got most of his victims to vote for him.
Oh boy I can’t wait to vote for this asshole and be told I’m the jerk for being mad about it.
Reminder: The time to act to support progressives is before the primaries start. At each level of voting, obviously vote for the best option. if it comes to the general and it’s Newsom or a fascist, the choice seems clear to me.
But for anyone ONLY participating in the process when the general election happens: those people are part of the problem.

I can’t vote in the primaries because I’m not registered Democrat or Republican.
Thankfully, that’s not the only thing you could do. However, you could certainly choose to register as a democrat or republican. Certainly choosing not to do that means you choose the consequences.

A promise of 30 movies a year is meaningless when there’s no guarantee of quality. What theater will appreciate showing 30 movies that no one wants to see because they’re clearly terrible?
